Nimodipine improves vocal fold and facial motion recovery after injury: A systematic review and meta-analysis
The Laryngoscope Mar 23, 2019
Lin RJ, et al. - In this systematic review and meta-analysis, researchers reviewed the use of nimodipine [a calcium channel blocker that has been used to treat hypertension and vasospasm] in cranial nerve injury and estimated the functional recovery effectiveness of nimodipine in injured cranial nerves. Included for review were human studies using nimodipine as a monotherapy to treat cranial nerve injury. The primary outcome measure was cranial nerve function recovery. For this study, 672 records have been screened and 58 texts have been evaluated in English. The positive effect of nimodipine on the vocal fold and facial motion recovery after the injury was supported by existing evidence.
