Nighttime is associated with decreased survival for out of hospital cardiac arrests: A meta-analysis of observational studies
The American Journal of Emergency Medicine Jan 09, 2019
Lin P, et al. – In this meta-analysis of eight studies, researchers examined the link between time of day, specifically night, and prognosis for patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). Compared with patients with daytime OHCA, patients with OHCA during the nighttime had lower 1-month/in-hospital survival. Lower survival at night could be due to patients' comorbidity and hospital-based care in addition to arrest event and pre-hospital care factors.
