Night-shift work duration and risk of colorectal cancer according to IRS1 and IRS2 expression
Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention Nov 12, 2019
Shi Y, Liu L, Hamada T, et al. – Researchers determined whether the risk of colorectal cancer (CRC) in night-shift workers differs according to insulin receptor substrates status via evaluating a cohort of nearly 77,500 women in the Nurses’ Health Study. They documented 1,397 cases of CRC, of which 304 or 308 had available data on IRS1 and IRS2, respectively. According to findings, those working ≥ 15 years night-shifts demonstrated a marginal trend of the increased overall risk of CRC vs women who never worked night-shifts. Overall, a potential role of IRS in mediating carcinogenesis induced by night-shift work may exist.
