Nicorandil-induced ulcerations: A 10-year observational study of all cases spontaneously reported to the French pharmacovigilance network
International Wound Journal Jun 01, 2018
Babic V, et al. - In order to better characterize the nicorandil-induced ulcer researchers provided a clinical overview of the 148 spontaneously reported cases of nicorandil-induced ulcers to the French pharmacovigilance network between 2005 and 2014. They also provided worldwide published cases over the same period to complete this picture. Findings suggested that in the 199 published cases, the anatomic distribution differed slightly, but delays were similar. Results demonstrated the presumption of mechanism to become more precise, leaving no doubt about the necessity to discontinue the treatment. The awareness regarding the occurrence of nicorandil-induced ulcers in many locations, possibly multiple and complicated, ought to be created among the practitioners and management ought to be simply done by discontinuing treatment with no further reintroduction of nicorandil.
