Scaringi S, et al. - The intention of the researchers was to contemplate the long-term outcome of individuals who underwent segmental colectomy for Crohn’s colitis, in terms of the risk for total abdominal colectomy. Findings demonstrated that the risk for surgical recurrence after segmental colectomy (SC) for Crohn’s colitis was acceptable. A bowel-sparing policy was suggested for the treatment of Crohn’s colitis in any case in which the extent of the disease at the moment of surgery enabled the conservative approach achievable.
