New MRI features improve subtype classification of hepatocellular adenoma
European Radiology Dec 10, 2018
Bise S, et al. - In this research, the investigators retrospectively analyzed the pathological and radiological data of 116 hepatocellular adenoma (HCA) subjects to elaborate the MRI criteria for subtype classification of HCA and further to specify the limits. In this study, they observed that sensitivity was 88% and specificity 100%. They characterized HNF1α-mutated hepatocellular adenomas (H-HCA) by the presence of fat and hypovascular pattern in MRI. Inflammatory hepatocellular adenomas (I-HCA) were identified by different patterns translating sinusoidal dilatation including the newly described crescent sign but they could not identify MRI specific pattern for β-catenin-mutated HCA (b-HCA).
