New digital adherence devices could prevent millions of strokes from atrial fibrillation by the end of the next century
Medical Hypotheses Aug 24, 2017
Boehme P, et al. – This paper scrutinized the role of new digital adherence devices in preventing strokes due to atrial fibrillation (AFib). It was determined that adherence devices could aid in improving the patientÂs compliance by reminder or feedback function. Newer devices that make use of digital technologies, in particular, displayed promising results but were not used broadly in clinical practice. Evidence was yielded for the assumption that newly available adherence devices could increase adherence rates and thereby lower the number of strokes in patients with AFib.
