Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and erythropoietin resistance among maintenance hemodialysis patients
Blood Purification Oct 20, 2021
Zhang J, Lu X, Wang S, et al. - In patients receiving hemodialysis (HD), a worse erythropoietin (EPO) responsiveness can be predicted by a higher neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR) level (a cheaper method).
This analysis involved 299 HD patients to unveil the link between NLR and platelet lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and EPO responsiveness in this patient population.
EPO responsiveness was found to be positively associated with ferritin and negatively associated with serum albumin, lymphocytes, and hemoglobin.
On multivariate linear regression, a correlation with a higher erythropoiesis resistance index was shown by only NLR but not PLR.
