Neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio in patients undergoing noncardiac surgery after coronary stent implantation
Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia Nov 15, 2019
Chung J, Bae J, Kwon Y, et al. - In this retrospective and observational study performed at a single university hospital, researchers assessed postoperative major adverse cardiovascular and cerebral events (MACCE) following noncardiac surgery in relation to perioperative neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (N/LR), platelet/lymphocyte ratio among patients with drug-eluting stent (DES) insertion. This study included 965 patients who had noncardiac surgery within 6 months post-DES implantation. Findings revealed an independent link between elevated N/LR on the postoperative day 1 and postoperative MACCE in this patient population. In these high-risk patients, the prediction of MACCE development may be assisted by the presence of elevated postoperative N/LR as a marker of systemic inflammation.
