Neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio as a prognostic parameter in NSCLC patients receiving EGFR-TKIs: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Journal of Oncology Jan 24, 2021
Tang M, Gao X, Sun H, et al. - Among patients suffering from non-small-cell lung cancer managed with epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs), the effectiveness of neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) as a prognostic parameter was investigated. Databases such as the American Society of Clinical Oncology, EMBASE, PubMed, the European Society of Medical Oncology, Wanfang, and CNKI were explored to identify relevant articles, resulting in a meta-analysis with 10 studies. Better progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were reported in patients with low NLR vs those with high NLR. In patients undergoing treatment with EGFR-TKIs, overall, findings revealed lower NLR effectively predicted better survival (PFS and OS).
