Progress in Neuro-Psychopharmacology and Biological Psychiatry | Mar 23, 2018
Mazza MG, et al. - Researchers performed the first meta-analysis exploring the role of neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR) in mood disorder. They noted that compared to healthy controls (HC), subjects with major depressive disorder (MDD) showed higher NLR and subjects with bipolar disorder showed higher NLR and PLR. Observations thereby supported the occurrence of an inflammatory activation in mood disorders, and utility of NLR and PLR in detecting this activation.
