Neutrophil, lymphocyte, and platelet counts and acute kidney injury after cardiovascular surgery
Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia Nov 13, 2017
Koo CH, et al. - This retrospective and observational study was performed on adult patients who underwent cardiovascular surgeries with cardiopulmonary bypass, to determine if neutrophil/lymphocyte × platelet (N/LP) ratio is an independent predictor of acute kidney injury (AKI) and postoperative mortality and if the N/LP ratio increases predictive ability compared with the N/L ratio or platelet nadir. Findings demonstrated an association of high N/LP ratios with postoperative AKI and 5-year mortality. Furthermore, data indicated that the N/LP ratio may assist with the prediction of AKI and mortality in high-risk cardiovascular surgery.
