Neuroticism and quality of life: Multiple mediating effects of smartphone addiction and depression

Gao T, et al. – The mediating effect of smartphone addiction and depression on neuroticism and quality of life were investigated in this study. The present data indicated that neuroticism, smartphone addiction, and depression were important variables that worsen quality of life.

Methods

  • For this purpose, self-reported measures of neuroticism, smart-phone addiction, depression, and quality of life were administered to seven hundred twenty-two Chinese university students.

Results

  • The consequences of this study demonstrated that smartphone addiction and depression were both significantly affected neuroticism and quality of life.
  • It was found that the direct effect of neuroticism on quality of life was significant.
  • Also, the chain-mediating effect of smartphone addiction and depression was significant.
