Neuropathic pain component in axial spondyloarthritis and the influence on disease burden
JCR: Journal of Clinical Rheumatology Aug 29, 2018
Gok K, et al. - In patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA), authors evaluated the frequency of neuropathic pain (NeP) component and assessed the potential influence of NeP on disease burden. Findings suggested the probability of nearly one-third of patients with axSpA, regardless of having nonradiographic axial spondyloarthritis (nr-axSpA) or ankylosing spondylitis (AS), to have NeP component. Worsened QoL and poorer patient-reported outcome data could be contributed by the neuropathic pain component and it should be kept in mind during patient evaluation.
