Chen K, et al. - In children with CKD, global and domain-specific cognition and academic skills were assessed as a function of CKD stage. Low-average cognition was observed in children with CKD relative to the general population. Furthermore, mild deficits were observed across academic skills, executive function, and visual and verbal memory. Compared to children with mild-to-moderate stage CKD and transplant recipients, the possibility of cognitive deficits existed in children on dialysis.
