Nephrotoxicity of iodixanol vs iopamidol in patients undergoing peripheral angiography with or without endovascular therapy
International Urology and Nephrology Jun 16, 2018
Xiong HL, et al. - Nephrotoxic impacts of iodixanol and iopamidol were studied in patients undergoing peripheral angiography. Researchers compared the incidence of contrast-associated acute kidney injury (CA-AKI), the mean peak serum creatinine (SCr) increase within 72 hours of receiving contrast media (CM), and major adverse renal events (SCr increased by two times after 30 days, the need for dialysis treatment, rehospitalization for acute renal failure, or kidney-related death) during hospitalization and within 30-day postdischarge between patients randomly assigned to the iodixanol group and iopamidol group. They found that in the population studied, nephrotoxicity of iodixanol was comparable with that of iopamidol.
