Zettervall SL, et al. - Researchers designed this work to determine the effects of neoadjuvant therapy on 30-day morbidity and mortality following pancreaticoduodenectomy. They observed that neoadjuvant chemotherapy provides protection against the development of pancreatic fistulas while neoadjuvant radiation potentiates formation likely due to their effects on the texture of the pancreatic gland. They recommended considering these factors in neoadjuvant regimens given the morbidity of pancreatic fistula formation.
