Neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by concurrent chemoradiotherapy vs concurrent chemoradiotherapy followed by adjuvant chemotherapy in locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma
BMC Cancer Apr 01, 2018
Setakornnukul J, et al. - Two treatment strategies for locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LA-NPC) were compared in terms of survival outcomes: concurrent chemoradiotherapy followed by adjuvant chemotherapy (CCRT-AC) vs neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by concurrent chemoradiotherapy (NAC-CCRT). NAC-CCRT offered no superior prognosis than CCRT-AC. Locoregional relapse should be of concern in cases treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy. NAC-CCRT could offer a survival advantage in high-risk distant metastasis patients (N3 stage).
