Neck circumference and blood pressure among children: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Journal of the American Society of Hypertension Nov 15, 2018
Moradi S, et al. - Large neck circumference (NC) in children and adolescents has been suggested as a possible indicator of increased blood pressure, according to prior studies. Researchers, therefore, conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis to examine the link between NC and blood pressure in children. Relevant studies were identified via a search of the PubMed and Scopus databases (up to January 2018). Studies that met inclusion criteria demonstrated the correlation coefficient between NC, systolic blood pressure, and diastolic blood pressure in children (aged < 18 years). The quantitative synthesis included 15 eligible studies. According to findings, NC appeared to be a novel anthropometric measurement in this study population and, thus, could serve as a good predictor of elevated blood pressure levels.
