Natural history of pain and disability among African-Americans and Whites with or at risk for knee osteoarthritis: A longitudinal study

Vina ER, et al. - This trial was aimed to draw a comparison between the knee pain and disability of African Americans (AAs) and Whites (WHs), with or having a risk of knee osteoarthritis (KOA), over 9 years. Experts also assessed the racial disparities in KOA-related symptoms across socioeconomic and clinical characteristics. A persistently greater KOA symptoms were reported by the AAs as compared to the WHs over 9 years of follow-up. The most pronounced disparities in pain and disability were found among the socioeconomically and clinically disadvantaged AAs.
