Natural course of the intraretinal hyperreflective sign after macular haemorrhage absorption in eyes with pathologic myopia
Acta Ophthalmologica Dec 16, 2019
Hung KC, et al. - In this prospective observational cohort study, researchers examined the natural course of the intraretinal hyperreflective (IRH) sign following macular haemorrhage (MHE) absorption in eyes with pathologic myopia. The sample consisted of 28 patients with pathologic myopia and MHE. According to IRH sign development, the eyes were categorized into IRH and non-IRH sign groups. In the non-IRH sign group, the mean logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution visual acuity was significantly better at 12 and 24 months. The incidence of myopic traction maculopathies (MTM) in the IRH was significantly greater than in the non-IRH sign group. Findings suggested that the IRH sign may develop in pathologic myopia after MHE and may remain stable long after MHE has been absorbed. In addition, future MTM is predictive.
