Nationwide trends and in-hospital complications of trachelectomy for surgically resectable cervical cancer in Taiwanese women: A population-based study, 1998â2013
Taiwanese Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology Aug 31, 2017
Cheng–Yen Lai J, et al. – Analysts depict the nationwide trends in the use of trachelectomy among Taiwanese women with surgically resectable cervical cancer over the past decade, and aim to compare associated demographic qualities, in–hospital complications and associated outcomes utilizing a population–based dataset from 1998 to 2013. The substantial increase in the trend of delayed childbearing may have affected the decision–making of Taiwanese women with cervical cancer in favor of trachelectomy over hysterectomy over the past 16–years from 1998 to 2013. When considering the uterine preservation for future fertility, women ought to be counseled about the risk of disease recurrence for cervical cancer before making a surgical decision for trachelectomy over hysterectomy.
