National pancreatic fistula rates after minimally invasive pancreaticoduodenectomy are improving with time: A NSQIP analysis

Journal of American College of Surgeons Feb 26, 2019

Panni RZ, et al. - Whether national minimally invasive pancreaticoduodenectomy (MIPD) pancreatic fistula rates are decreasing with time was determined via analyzing all patients undergoing elective MIPD and accrued into the pancreatectomy targeted NSQIP database between 2014-2017. Outcomes revealed improvement in national MIPD pancreatic fistula rates with time. Better outcomes in patients who are at lower risk of pancreatic fistula contribute to this finding in the majority, which could be a reflection of evolving minimally invasive anastomotic techniques.
