National estimations of airway foreign bodies in children in the United States, 2000 to 2009
Clinical Otolaryngology Nov 23, 2018
Cheng J, et al. - Researchers evaluated the risk factors related to the airway foreign bodies among US children and reported trend observations over time. They used the risk factors for univariate analysis and a multivariate model to identify any increased risk of mortality. Previous findings were confirmed in this study. They noted an association of the diagnosis of airway foreign bodies in children with male sex, age < 5 years, lack of private insurance, and geographic location in an urban setting. For older age, urban hospital setting, and teaching hospital status, they noted increased risks of mortality.
