American Journal of Infection Control Jan 27, 2018

Koroglu M, et al. - Risk of household transmission of hepatitis B virus (HBV) via nail scissors was assessed. In addition, researchers examined whether nails from HBV-infected people contained HBV, and evaluated correlations of HBV DNA levels of serum, nail specimens, and nail scissors. Findings revealed important roles of nail scissors, shared-use of nail scissors, and duration of shared use in household transmission of HBV. They recommend increasing level of education within society in this regard via mass media.
