N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide and outcomes in type B aortic dissection in China: A retrospective multicentre study
BMJ Open Sep 12, 2019
Luo C, Zhou J, Xiong S, et al. - Researchers conducted a retrospective multicentre study investigating the association between N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-pro-BNP) levels and in-hospital and long-term adverse prognosis in patients with type B aortic dissection (TBAD). Among the enrolled 657 patients with TBAD, in-hospital death occurred in 27 patients (4.1%). Mortality was significantly higher in the upper tertiles of NT-pro-BNP. The analysis suggests an independent predictive value of NT-pro-BNP for adverse prognosis in patients with TBAD, thus it could be used as a potential risk-stratification tool.
