New England Journal of Medicine Oct 12, 2021
Witberg G, Barda N, Hoss S, et al. - Researchers investigated the frequency and severity of myocarditis among individuals who had received at least one dose of the BNT162b2 messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine.
The database of Clalit Health Services, the largest healthcare organization in Israel, yielded data of 2.5 million vaccinated HCO members; the criteria for myocarditis were fulfilled by 54 cases.
The estimated incidence of myocarditis per 100,000 persons was 2.13 cases among these patients; male patients between the ages of 16 and 29 years had the highest incidence.
Myocarditis was mild to moderate in severity in most cases.
