Myocardial injury is more common than deep venous thrombosis after vascular surgery and is associated with a high one year mortality risk
European Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Mar 30, 2018
Górka J, et al. - Researchers compared the incidence and influence on mortality of two dominant venous and arterial events (myocardial injury and deep venous thrombosis) in the peri-operative period by prospectively screening a consecutive cohort of patients undergoing vascular surgery. They recognized myocardial injury after non-cardiac surgery (MINS) as a common complication after vascular surgery. Compared to deep vein thrombosis, MINS was observed occurring more frequently and was associated with high 1-year mortality.
