Myocardial function in primary antiphospholipid syndrome using speckle-tracking echocardiography
Clinical Rheumatology Apr 23, 2018
Medina G, et al. - Experts assessed the myocardial function in patients with primary APS (PAPS) using 2-dimensional echocardiography (2-D) obtaining values of left ventricle global longitudinal strain (GLS) by speckle-tracking echocardiography (STE). Compared to controls, lower values of myocardial deformation were seen in segments and myocardial regions in PAPS patients, including apical segments suggesting underlying heart disease. In PAPS patients vs healthy subjects, GLS was reduced. For detection of cardiac affection in patients without apparent cardiac involvement, STE was a suitable method.
