International Ophthalmology Jan 07, 2018
Al-khersan H, et al. - This study was conducted in order to examine if mutations in Mer tyrosine kinase (MERTK) exhibited a link with age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The findings produced a significant negative result which illustrated that rare variants in MERTK did not correlate with AMD. In addition, the role of large sample size genetic studies utilizing whole-genome sequencing was depicted as a powerful tool that could resolve clinically relevant questions regarding the genetic basis of ophthalmic disease.
