Mutation allele frequency threshold does not affect prognostic analysis using next-generation sequencing in oral squamous cell carcinoma
BMC Cancer Jul 29, 2018
Ma J, et al. - Using a panel of cancer associated gene exons (CAGE) in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), researchers examined different allele frequency thresholds of mutations in targeted genes on prognostic analyses. For this investigation, they involved 46 patients. They used allele frequency thresholds of 10, 5, and 3% for prognostic analyses. The most frequently mutated genes in OSCC patients were TP53, NOTCH1, CASP8, CDKN2A, and CDH1. It was observed that the threshold of allele frequency did not affect the results of the prognostic analysis.
