Multivariate analysis of risk factors for postoperative wound infection following oral and oropharyngeal cancer surgery

Belusic-Gobic M, et al. - A determination was pursued of the risk factors for wound infections in patients with oral cancer, who underwent surgical procedures. A high occurrence of wound infection was brought to lig despite antibiotic prophylaxis. Surgeons managing oral tumor patients were recommended to have a better comprehension of the risk factors such as gender, tumor localization and type of reconstruction. This knowledge would aid in minimizing the risk of wound infection and for prompt detection of risk factors.
