Multiple subretinal fluid blebs after pars plana vitrectomy for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment repair
Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology Jan 10, 2019
Otsuka Y, et al. - Investigators analyzed 106 individuals (76 men and 32 women; mean age of 58.9 ± 9.0 years) to assess the incidence of multiple subretinal fluid (SRF) blebs after pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) with its clinical risk determinants. They conducted intentional drainage retinotomy and cryotherapy. They observed the creation of intentional drainage retinotomy and 27-gauge PPV as the risk factors for the development of multiple SRF blebs. Multiple SRF blebs were observed even after small-gauge vitrectomy. They noticed no impact of SRF on postoperative best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) with gradual absorption without treatment.
