Multiple sclerosis and stroke: A systematic review and meta-analysis
BMC Neurology Jun 29, 2019
Hong Y, et al. - Researchers conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the various risks of stroke and ischemic stroke in people with multiple sclerosis (MS) and non-MS populations, including differences in groups stratified by sex and age, offering more accurate information for clinical practice. The meta-analysis included nine studies with over 380,000 participants that met the inclusion criteria. According to findings, people with MS are at increased risk of developing any type of stroke, and ischemic stroke in particular vs the general non- MS population. Consistent results from patients of various sexes and age groups were seen. In order to enhance patient results, preventive measures and treatments should be administered earlier.
