Multiple postnatal infections in newborns born preterm predict delayed maturation of motor pathways at term-equivalent age with poorer motor outcomes at 3 years

Glass TJA, et al. - This research was designed to assess whether the number of postnatal infections was correlated with abnormal white matter maturation and poorer motor neurodevelopmental outcomes at 36 months of corrected age. Findings revealed that ≥3 postnatal infections in newborns born preterm predicted the impaired development of the motor pathways and poorer motor outcomes in early childhood.
