Multiple cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma in immunosuppressed vs immunocompetent patients
JAMA May 15, 2019
Gonzalez JL, et al. - Researchers intended to assess if there is a relationship between multiple squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs), the second most common skin cancer in the US, and the risk of poor results in the immunosuppressed population. Findings revealed that SCC is considered a significant determinant of morbidity in immunosuppressed cases. Investigations show an increased risk after the first incidence of developing a subsequent SCC. It is believed that immunosuppressed patients have a 65- to 100-fold increase in SCC incidence.
