Multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa and mortality in mechanically ventilated ICU patients
American Journal of Infection Control Apr 11, 2019
Denis JB, et al. - Researchers examined how multidrug-resistant (MDR) ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Pa) episodes are associated with 30-day mortality. From a longitudinal, prospective, French multicenter database (2010-2016), they identified a total of 230 patients who presented with 286 P. aeruginosa VAP. They noted a maximum of 3 episodes/patient; 73 episodes were MDR and 213 were susceptible. Findings suggested no correlation of the resistance profile of P. aeruginosa with mortality.
