Multi‐center study of endoscopic revision after side‐by‐side metal stent placement for malignant hilar biliary obstruction
Digestive Endoscopy Oct 07, 2020
Inoue T, Naitoh I, Suzuki Y, et al. - Researchers conducted the study for analyzing the outcomes of endoscopic reintervention (E‐RI) after side‐by‐side (SBS) placement in patients with malignant hilar biliary obstruction (MHBO). Between 2013 and 2020, 67 patients who had E‐RI for stent occlusion after SBS placement at three tertiary‐care referral centers were examined. Data reported that 79.1% (53/67) and 76.1% (51/67), respectively, were the technical success and clinical success rates. This research showed that E‐RI after SBS placement is technically feasible and safe, but the success rate in patients with narrow common bile ducts and metastatic diseases was significantly lower. For the selection of the initial stenting method, these factors can be useful.
