Engbersen MP, et al. - In evaluating the peritoneal tumor load and predicting if a complete cytoreduction can be achieved in patients with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC), researchers determined the diagnostic performance of MRI with diffusion-weighted imaging (DW-MRI) in this observational prospective study. Participants in the study were 25 patients with epithelial ovarian cancer scheduled for cytoreductive surgery. Before surgery, patients underwent a 3 T DW-MRI scan. In predicting the Surgical Peritoneal Cancer Index, DW-MRI is accurate and can be helpful in predicting whether a complete resection in patients with ovarian cancer is possible.
