MRI in sarcoglycanopathies: A large international cohort study
Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery & Psychiatry Oct 06, 2017
Tasca G, et al. - This trial aspired to characterize the pattern and spectrum of involvement on muscle MRI in patients with sarcoglycanopathies. It was observed that the muscle involvement on MRI was consistent in patients with limb-girdle muscular dystrophies (LGMD2CÂ2F). It could assist in distinguishing sarcoglycanopathies from other LGMDs or dystrophinopathies, which represented the most common differential diagnoses. Evidence was gained with regard to the selective susceptibility or resistance to the degeneration of specific muscles when one of the sarcoglycans was deficient. It also yielded preliminary information about the progressive involvement of different muscles over time.
