Motor subtypes and other risk factors associated with drooling in Parkinson's disease patients

Mao CJ, et al. - Researchers carried out this study to investigate the association between motor subtypes and drooling, and other risk factors associated with drooling in a large cohort of Chinese patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). Even in mild-to-moderate PD patients, drooling was common. Higher risk of drooling was seen in PD patients with non-TD subtype. Moreover, factors associated with drooling in patients with PD included male sex, motor severity, excessive daytime sleepiness, poor nighttime sleep, and constipation.
