Mortality outcomes with intensive blood pressure targets in chronic kidney disease patients: A pooled individual patient data analysis from randomized trials
Hypertension May 21, 2019
Aggarwal R, et al. – Via pooling individual patient data from nearly 5,000 chronic kidney disease patients with hypertension from four multicenter, randomized, controlled trials, researchers assessed all-cause mortality outcomes in relation to intensively targeting systolic blood pressure (BP) to < 130 mm Hg vs a standard of < 140 mm Hg. Overall, the investigators noted a reduction in all-cause mortality in relation to an intensive BP target of < 130 mm Hg vs a standard target of < 140 mm Hg in patients with stage ≥ 3 chronic kidney disease who were not on intensive glycemic therapy.
