Mortality, length of stay and cost of hospitalization among patients with systemic sclerosis: Results from the National Inpatient Sample
Rheumatology Jun 08, 2018
Poudel DR, et al. - Authors assess the hospitalizations and define the factors related to in-hospital mortality, longer length of stay (LOS) and higher hospital costs among systemic sclerosis (SSc) hospitalizations. Currently, among SSc hospitalizations and in-hospital deaths infections are the most common diagnoses. As per data, it is important to become vigilant in prevention and early treatment of infections in SSc patients. Mean age of the patients involved was 63.2 years. Findings suggested an association of acute renal failure and aspiration with in-hospital mortality.
