Price A, et al. - A scrutiny was performed of the survival in dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) compared with Alzheimer’s dementia (AD). The findings displayed substantially shorter survival from the first presentation with cognitive impairment in DLB compared with AD, independent of age, sex, physical comorbidity or antipsychotic prescribing. Additional information was yielded with regard to the existing evidence for poorer survival for DLB vs AD. A necessity arose for advanced studies in order to comprehend the possible mechanisms accounting for this finding.
