Morbidity rate and medical utilization in interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome

International Urogynecology Journal Mar 26, 2018

Lee MH, et al. - A cohort study of the Longitudinal Health Insurance Database of Taiwan was performed to calculate the morbidity rate and medical utilization of interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome (IC/PBS) over 12 years. Among women and older patients, a higher incidence and prevalence of morbidity related to IC/PBS was observed. A new drug for the treatment of IC/PBS could be a factor of the peak in the morbidity rate. The awareness of physicians and patients seeking medical help might have increased the medical utilization.
