Monocyte to high-density lipoprotein ratio and cardiovascular events in patients on peritoneal dialysis
Nutrition, Metabolism & Cardiovascular Diseases Mar 27, 2020
Zhan X, et al. - To clarify the role of the monocyte to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (MHR) in predicting cardiovascular diseases among patients on peritoneal dialysis, researchers undertook this investigation. This analysis involved 880 incident peritoneal dialysis patients. Cardiovascular events were the primary outcomes. A median follow-up of 26 months was performed, during which, 139 cardiovascular events were documented. Following multiple adjustment, a 1.97-fold increase in the cardiovascular events hazard was reported in relation to the high MHR group vs that of the low group in the overall population. In subgroup analysis, the link between the MHR and a higher risk of cardiovascular events was identified to be the strongest in the subgroup of patients having diabetes. Overall, findings revealed an independent link of MHR with the risk of cardiovascular events among patients receiving peritoneal dialysis, and the link between the MHR and the risk of cardiovascular events can be impacted by diabetes status.
