Khalifa GA, et al. - This study was executed in order to estimate the incremental changes in the maximum interincisal opening (MIO) after 1 cm gap arthroplasty, compare these changes between unilateral and bilateral cases. It aimed at stressing on the significance of the MIO monitoring for at least 24 months. The monitoring of MIO was discovered to be vital for identifying the early signs of re-ankylosis. This was the only way which could be used wherein the early signs could not be detected in radiographs.
