Hanish SI, et al. - Authors here presented the largest series in the United States of MARS therapy as temporary hepatic replacement for acute liver failure (ALF). In this study, MARS therapy proved successful in replacing hepatic function in ALF, allowing time for spontaneous recovery or transplantation. Spontaneous recovery was remarkably common if support could be sustained.
