Modified nephrometry score with body mass index more accurately predicts ischemic time in transabdominal laparoscopic partial nephrectomy for small renal masses
Urology Sep 19, 2018
Masumori N, et al. - Authors sought to accurately predict the ischemic time (IT) and find the best way to select candidates for transabdominal laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (LPN). For patients with tumor sizes < 7cm who underwent transabdominal LPN, findings suggested a better association of the modified nephreometry score (NS) with the IT vs the original NS. A practical tool to select candidates for transabdominal LPN was seen in the modified NS with body mass index. They categorized 42, 75 and 18 patients into low (5-7), moderate (8-11) and high (12-15) complexity, respectively with the modified NS.
