Modifiable risk factors for advanced vs early breast cancer in the French E3N cohort
International Journal of Cancer Apr 25, 2019
Veron L, et al. - Using the E3N cohort, researchers determined the predictors for postmenopausal advanced vs early breast cancer (BC). In a prospective manner, 98,995 French women aged 50-65 years at baseline have been followed by E3N since 1990. Using multivariate Cox competing risk hazard models, they estimated hazard ratios and 95% confidence intervals for advanced and early invasive BC. The diagnosis of 4,941 women with postmenopausal BC was made, including 1,878 (38%) with advanced BC, during a median follow-up of 15.7 years. According to the findings, excess weight seems to be mainly related to advanced BC, particularly hormone-dependent BC. Weight maintenance within the recommended limits was further supported by the findings.
